The squad earned a silver medal in the women's novice 4+ event. The novice 4+ "A" crew of Brianna Dendler, Rachel Cokeley, Sarah Hansard, Enya Messersmith and Alexandra Basil finished in 22.00.85 behind Delaware who finished at 21:35:46.

Associate head coach Tina Griffith was satisfied with the experience for the first time rowers.

The "B" crew, consisting of Elizabeth Duarte, Bethany Sapen, Virginia Cunningham, Bethany Shaw and Ashley Rumor finished in seventh out of the 20 crews, finishing at 23:42:68.

Regatta this past weekend. The competition was the first of the season for the novice team.

"It was a productive day," Griffith said. "We got a lot of good experience and look forward to going out on the water this week with a more concrete view of our goals and capabilities."

Johnny Robinson didn’t have a great Saturday night performance either, though his exit from the competition leaves the show with barely any interesting characters at all. Interestingly, the M+S  Christmas ad seemed to feature all of the X Factor acts accept Johnny and the other act booted out of last night’s show, The Risk. It may be difficult to see how Johnny could be turned into a pop act (without a dress and lots of make up) but he genuinely seemed a very nice guy – intelligent too. Could they have known something we didn’t?

And then there was Frankie Cocozza who hasn’t been good enough throughout the competition but still, somehow, manages  to stay in it – perhaps because it gives us all something to get annoyed about. Even he didn’t expect to stay in this week, hence presumably the 23.5 hours of partying before the results show. Or maybe he did know he was going to be safe hence the partying.  Conspiracy theories beckon.

Well it wasn’t a classic X Factor weekend. The dance theme left some of the more croonery acts struggling, especially Janet Devlin who looked very uncomfortable outside of her sub Enya comfort zone, forgetting the words to the Jackson 5′s I Want You Back.
